Nick Calpakdjian has 14 years experience editing on Final Cut Pro and AVID and on everything from music videos and TVC’s to documentaries, drama and magazine television. He enjoys working on foreign language films and character-based stories.
Currently Nick is in Jakarta finishing post-production on the action/drama feature film Kill=Vengeance for the Citra Entertainment Group as well as in the final stages of post-production on the 8-part travel/cooking series “Recipes for Success” for which he was Series Director and Editor.
In 2013 Nick completed his first feature film as an editor. 2011 saw Nick complete the SBS/Screen Australia documentary Trafficked – The Reckoning that has since screened at many festivals internationally including the New York International Film and Television Festival. 2009 saw Nick work on a range of half-hour documentaries for ABC’s Artscape series including “Sculptures in the Scrub” (Dir. Emma Crimmings), “Jon Cattapan” and “Landscape of the Wynne.” Nick also edited the TV 1 hour version of Amiel Courtin-Wilson’s award winning feature documentary on Aboriginal actor Jack Charles, “Bastardy”.
Nick has broad experience both filming and editing films in and about East Timor. In 2008 Nick completed the edit for Rosa’s Journey (1x52min, SBS) a character documentary based in East Timor. The film was selected to screen at the Mumbai International Film Festival in 2010. During 2009/10 Nick edited ‘Breaking The News’ about the plight of East Timorese journalists and in 2012/13 he worked with FairTrade Films and Dili FIlm Works on a feature film “A Guerra da Beatriz” as both an editor and co-producer.
